Aluminum Plant Outage

A major aluminum manufacturer contracts Horner EMDS (Electro Mechanical Diagnostic Services) to perform monthly vibration data collection and analysis. EMDS identified a mill gearbox input shaft bearing issue. In 2022, the monthly vibration analysis indicated the bearing issue increasing. The vibration analysis was discussed with the customer and the vibration data collection increased to twice weekly. 5,000KVA Transformer Failure

An Iron and Metal Recycling Facility, Located in Dayton, Ohio called and had a transformer fail and was asking for help. I contacted Don Morris to asked for his assistance. Between Don and Mike Butler, we decided to get Springfield Field Service involved. Jim Delawder and I were to make a site visit, collect photos and information to feed back to Don for evaluation. 2000 HP Aluminum Plant DC Motors

An Aluminum Rolling and Recycling plant, a good Horner customer in Terre Haute brought Todd Cochran (Sales) a problem/ or opportunity to Indianapolis Field Service. The customer has two, 2,000 HP DC motors coupled together, to deliver 4,000 HP to their mill. These motors are about 5-6 foot square, and 10 feet long each.
