Hospital Kitchen Exhaust Fan

A hospital in Indianapolis needed to replace a very old kitchen exhaust fan and ductwork. This was a joint effort between Horner Fan and Fab and Horner Field Service led by Sales Jeff Wilson. Horner Field Service did the bulk of the work while Horner Fan and Fab reconfigured a Greenheck direct drive fan and new ductwork and louver. The controls were changed from a simple on/off to a VFD that was tied into the building management system as well as reprogramming of the VFD to achieve the desired CFM of air flow. Thanks to everyone who worked over a weekend!

The existing drive was damaged in a minor fire and was only operating on 3 out of 6 caps. Due to the damage and loss of pertinent feedback to monitor quality, our customer made the decision to replace the existing drive with a new Bardac DC drive. Bardac was chosen due to the availability of the drive which was 2 weeks out on an expedited basis. No other drive company could provide delivery inside 16-18 weeks. David Whited, [...]
