Exhaust Fans and Dixie Cups
A cup manufacturer in Kentucky needed seven exhaust fans replaced, but needed it to be done and still keep production in operation. To shut down production would be too costly. This type of plant is considered to be a food plant which means the underside of the fan openings had to be tarped to prevent dirt and debris from falling onto the machines below.
The day of the job the wind was blowing at 27mph. The plant has a policy that once the wind reaches 30 mph no crane operation could be used. The wind held steady and Horner Fan and Fabrication was able to change out all seven exhaust fans in one day.
Another part of the job was to fabricate an offset to allow normal maintenance access, as one of the old fans that was located under a duct on the roof in such a way it could not be maintained.
