When Buying New Is Too Much – Repair

Horner recently achieved a remarkable success story with a major steel mill. They make specialty metals for the aircraft and aerospace industries including rolled steel, bars, ingots, and wire. Initially poised to purchase two new fan units for their exhaust system in their Finish/Sizing Mill, they hesitated due to concerns over pricing and lead time. Sensing an opportunity for collaboration, I proposed the idea of reconditioning the units instead. Working closely with Horner Fan & Fabrication, we meticulously crafted a competitive quote, addressing the client’s concerns head-on. Despite initial reservations, we assured them of a swift turnaround time of 3 to 4 weeks. With their trust in our capabilities secured, we swiftly secured the purchase order. Our dedicated teams at Horner Fan, Fabrication, and Machining Services sprang into action, dismantling, manufacturing new shafts, new fans, and reassembling the units with meticulous attention to detail. Our Terre Haute shop played a crucial role in reconditioning the motors, ensuring a seamless finish, and keeping costs in-house by not buying new motors. Upon inspection, the client was not only impressed by the attention to detail but also expressed their intention to entrust Horner with all their future fan work. This cost savings was substantial to the plant. This success story underscores our team’s dedication, expertise, capabilities, and ability to exceed expectations, paving the way for enduring partnerships and future successes.
