Manufacturing Partnership Winding Motor Stators
Typically, the work we receive at the Springfield Division is electromechanical components that our customers use as tools to create their own products with. In the Spring of 2019, we started a partnership to aid one of our local manufacturing facilities in producing and testing the products they make for their customers. This relationship has grown, and we are called upon in times when their orders are greater than their staff can produce. The Springfield and Indianapolis divisions have worked with this customer in the past, primarily winding motor stators. Our customer has recognized the value of having Horner as a partner and comes to us when their customers need more products than they can produce. We have been afforded another opportunity to assist our partnered customer in fulfilling an order they do not have the capacity to complete. The amount of work our customer needs required a team effort between Springfield and Indianapolis divisions providing quotes to separate winding commitments. Like many businesses these days, our customer is lacking the employees they need to meet their customers’ product demands. This shortage of help has opened opportunities for the Springfield and Indianapolis divisions. We have recently started winding an order of 56 stators at a frequency of 5 per week. We have found that setting up sever- al winding stations and using the assembly line method allows us to wind the stators efficiently. Our customer provides the materials necessary to wind the stators, and we provide the craftsman and facilities. Our team has done a great job and has worked diligently in ensuring the quality is top notch on every stator they wind. We have just started our journey of completing the 56 stators needed over an 11- week period, and I am confident we can meet our customers’ demands. We have a great team, and pull together to accomplish a common goal, keeping our customers satisfied by delivering a quality product within the quoted time-frame.
