    The System/Network Administrator is a hands-on role, providing IT technical issue resolution services to Horner Electric employees and offices. The qualified candidate will have a passion for server & network management, automation and be detail oriented. Knowledge and experience in a high paced operational environment with many physical, virtual, and cloud-based servers. This is a hands-on and highly technical position, therefore the candidate must have the necessary implementation, diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, as well excellent knowledge of tools, processes, and scripting. The candidate must be willing to participate and abide by all company policies and procedures.


    • Install, maintain, and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
    • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems and replace defective components when necessary.
    • Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware, including the virus protection software.
    • Operate master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and use.
    • Evaluate user needs, perform a comprehensive search/compare, and procure computer software and hardware, maintain adequate supplies (spare drives, printer paper, toners, etc.)
    • Design, assemble, configure, and test computer hardware and networking and operating system software.
    • Monitor network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.
    • Assist in configuring, monitoring, and maintaining MS Office365 applications.
    • Assist in perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
    • Effectively communicates relevant IT-related information to management and peers.
    • Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
    • Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
    • Maintains a high level of current technology by reading technology periodicals.
    • Assist in maintaining wireless services for users and machine to machine devices.
    • Manages network operations to include troubleshooting connectivity problems, installing & maintaining routers, switches and access points.
    • Adding/terminating users; assigning rights and access; resetting passwords; establishing network accounts; assessing and reporting operational status; performing backups and restores; etc.
    • Act as a leader within the company
    • Performs other job duties as assigned.


    • Demonstrated experience in supporting production systems and networks in a high volume and fast paced environment.
    • Detailed knowledge of Windows server setup, deployment, and maintenance.
    • Experience of Virtual, cloud and on-premises server systems.
    • Experience with ITIL methodologies.
    • Experience with Cisco Meraki including WiFi.


    • Any Windows server certifications would be desirable.
    • Cisco Networking CCNA or higher preferred.
