Destroyed Fan Wheel Remanufacture

A customer reached out to Horner Fan and Fabrication with a significant challenge—a completely destroyed air handler wheel that had already been unsuccessfully repaired by another vendor. Despite attempts to fabricate a new wheel, the customer continued to face balance issues, leading them to seek Horner’s expertise. The customer sent in the destroyed OEM wheel along with the fan housing. Horner Fan and Fabrication meticulously fabricated a new replacement wheel based on the original OEM design. The team also restored the fan housing to OEM specifications, addressing any cracks, cleaning, repairing, and repainting it. In addition to this, Horner supplied new bearings, a shaft, motor base, motor, and belts, ultimately reassembling the entire fan unit to be a ready-to-run, drop-in replacement. During the restoration, Horner’s team identified a critical issue: previous maintenance had incorrectly reversed the sheaves, causing the fan’s RPM to exceed the manufacturer’s maximum limits. This oversight likely led to the original wheel’s failure. By identifying and addressing this problem, Horner not only restored the fan to its original condition but also ensured that the same issue would not occur again.
